Natalie Randolph Losses in Debut

The Natalie Randolph era began Friday at Coolidge High School with a 28-0 loss to Carroll.

The Washington Post reports that Randolph's debut was met by a media frenzy and 3,500 fans in the stands, including Wanda Oates, who is believed to be the first woman named a head varsity football coach in America.  Unlike Randolph, Oates only last one day on the job.

While Alaska was opening the regular season for all of high school football Friday night, Coolidge High's (Washington, DC) Natalie Randolph took the field for her first practice as head coach of the program.

The Washington Post reports that 29-players were on the field for Randolph's historic first day.

There's no doubt that DeMatha and Good Counsel have dominated the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference football scene for the last decade.

Now comes a story in the Washington Post's Josh Barr, who tells the story of Good Counsel senior quarterback Zach Dancel, who has been trained by DeMatha's offensive coordinator.  It's a good read about why these arch-rivals have one more reason to get pumped-up for what is becoming a twice-a-year match-up.
